no MXD no summer or so they say! Grab your calendars and your markers, block the 25th to 26th of July - the date is set and to be saved :)
The lottery rules for this year:
-registration opens around 6.2.
-registration closes 7.3. 12PM UTC+1 (aka berlin time midnight)
-lottery will be on 8.3.
-teams need to have at least one FLINTA* person
-no TBA allowed
-teams get one extra lottery life per extra FLINTA* person
-teams get one extra lottery life per BIPOC person
-teams with two helpers from berlin skip the lottery
-no age limit but people under 18 need to have their parents or a supervisor with consent form signed by a legal guardian at the tournament
-if a player drops out after the lottery, they need to be replaced by another player from the waitlist that gives equal or more lottery lifes
-if that is not possible, they need to be replaced by a berlin player
-if that is not possible, the team has free choice
-any change needs to approved by berlin bikepolo (here on Poloverse, in the telegram thread or contact Jules directly)
What are the effects of the lottery rule changes?
-for all we care, a team can consist of three cisgender women. Mixed for us is about bringing more FLINTA* into tournaments so we want to lift as many restrictions on them as possible.
-teams get anywhere between 1 and 6 lifes in the lottery - yes, a FLINTA* BIPOC person brings two lifes.
One more important thing:
We have reserved three spots for teams that need confirmation that they are playing before the lottery happens. This was brought into life with teams in mind that need to apply for a VISA or that need to book plane tickets early because they become too expensive. But really, there is no clear rule about this so if you feel your team needs this please contact us via mixed@berlin-bikepolo.de and we will try to confirm with you within a week. This is possible from now on, even before the registration opens.

Friday and Saturday will be swiss rounds in groups.
Sunday probably one or two more big rounds, then top32 and bottom16 Single Elim.
