Dear friends from Bordeaux Bike Polo & players playing the Bordeaux Open and the general polo community,
We’re sorry we have conflicting tournaments dates which is resulting in the tournament organisation issues.
We will close registration officially today, as good faith.
We would like to point out that we talked to Bordeaux Reps (in this case, Victor) as early as we heard about them organising a tournament on the same weekend that we planned our tournament. Sure, they announced it first, but we never thought we would be short for teams for both tournaments. Both clubs decided to move forward with organising.
We were trying to organise a 2 court tournament to cater for the world bike polo community. Unfortunately by the registration deadline we had only 18 teams. From there we couldn’t afford to buy a 2nd court, so we said the tournament will be 16 teams until we reach 20 teams on a first come first served basis, that we reached a few days after. This may have caused a misunderstanding with the bordeaux reps.
Recently, we also decided to not allow any other teams to transfer without both clubs and players talking through the reason why they would do so, in the hope that they would be no more drops.
To the best of our knowledge, no teams or players have dropped the Bordeaux tournament to go to ours for at least 1 month.
We’re really sorry people feel strongly about the matter and we hope they understand that we did our best to prevent cancelations in Bordeaux.
We wish players in Bordeaux and in Montpellier a great tournament with good friends, old and new. We hope we can move forward from this particular situation without consequences to our friendships! 🫶🏼
Love,
Montpellier Bike Polo
