Why is the shuffle still forbidden?

1/ do we allow changes in mallet designs ? if yes they will change a lot imo to take advantage of the new rule.

I would immediately begin to use an angled mallet if I could shoot with the broadside… I would also likely design a mallet with flat sides. I see no reason to disallow such a thing.

I’m happy to allow them or not. As I’ve said before, I’d prefer no stabs and just swings. Nobody seems to care about that but me however. Classic sitch.

well if we allow mallet designs change , i vote no to shuffle.

is the goal to simplify reffing and make it the game , supposedly, easier to play ?

or are we re defining how a polo player should execute shots ?

I think redefining a shot as a swing would allow shaft and shuffle shots. I think it’s a nice middle ground. Nobody wants to see someone stab a ball into an open net.

Deflections could still be face only.

I don’t see a way to limit mallet design changes and it’s perhaps unnecessary. Angled mallets are a very long but isolated tradition and I would heavily oppose removing them. I don’t see anything wrong with innovation if the rules change.

What are you afraid of Benji? What could go wrong? What mallet changes are you worried about?
