2.1.4.3. Goal Lines and backboard safety space

2.1.4.3. Goal Lines must be parallel to the backboard and 3-4.5m from it, depending on
court size.
2.1.4.3.1. Goal Lines cannot be less than 29 ± 0.5m apart from each other.

i have a real issue with people setting up the goals too close to the boards. for reference i have a new-ish player that got caught by surprise how close the fence was and shattered his arm bone because he couldnt brake early enough and hit the fence with an open palm .

the wording is refering to a space between the goal line to the backboard when really it should be from the back of the goal post, there should be always 3 meters space regardless of the design of the goals.

if you playing on a smallish court , it wont magically change much to nibble on 1-2 meter length when it literally change so much to have them behind goals : safety , fluid plays , harder for people to hide behind goals if its a more open space

If you dont have a big enough court don’t use this rule - no one is forcing anyone to use any of these rules

some rules should be forced if its safety relevant , like enough space to brake before hitting the fence
