Diana, Diego and Jason win in Montpellier
The team “7ème Ciele” wins the Montpellier Open, which took place one week after the worlds.
A total of 22 teams took part. Although it was not a mixed tournament, there were 14 mixed teams.
Many participants travelled to Montpellier after the worlds in Perpignan and spent a few days there before the tournament started.
On Friday, the second court was set up and many pickups were played.
On Saturday, each team had 6 Swiss round matches in a big group.
The top 12 and the bottom 10 then played a separate double elimination on Sunday. So there was a Challenger and Slayer tournament on Sunday.
After a few rounds of elimination, there were only 4 teams left.
In the match for third place and the entry into the Loosers Bracket final, “Schmetterling” (Morgan, Lisa, Dani) played against “Enorm in Form” (Alfonzo, Levin, William).
After 12 minutes the score was 4-1 in favour of William’s team.
In the Winners Bracket final “7ème Ciele”(Jason, Diana, Diego) played against “Hum Drum”(Chaco, Emmet, Alejandro). The two teams led the table on Saturday and then met again on Sunday. It was a very competitive game, but in the end Emmet’s team managed to score a goal and won 1-0
In the Loosers Bracket final, “7ème Ciele” met “Enorm in Form”. There were a few more goals in this game and at first no team had the clear upper hand. The team around Diego managed to keep the score at 4:3 and thus secured their place in the grand final.
In the Challenger Double elimination, “don’t need a third” (Juan, Laurent, Pabs) played against “Caballo Paralitico” (Leila, Fran, McFly) in the final. The team around Laurent from Montpellier won 2:1
So in the Slayer final there was another clash between “7ème Ciele” and “Hum Drum”.
The first final was a relatively clear 3:0 for the team around Superpolo member Diana. In the second final, “Hum Drum” also failed to beat the team around local hero Jason, which was perhaps due to the fact that they played with a permanent goalie (;
The second final was finally a 3:2, Diego was able to score the golden goal.
This tournament was the end of the World Cup trip and the stay in France for many.

Das Team “7ème Ciele” gewinnt die Montpellier Open, welche eine Woche nach den worlds stattfanden.
Insgesamt nahmen 22 Teams teil. Obwohl es kein ausgeschriebenes Mixed Turnier war, gab es 14 mixed Teams.
Viele teilnehmende reisten nach den worlds in Perpignan nach Montpellier und verbrachten dort ein paar Tage before das Turnier startete.
Am Freitag wurde der zweite Court aufgebaut und viele Pickups gespielt.
Am Samstag hatte jedes Team 6 Swiss round Spiele in einer großen Gruppe.
Die Top 12 und die bottom 10 spielten dann eine getrennte double elimination am Sonntag. Somit gab es am Sonntag ein Challenger und Slayer Turnier.
Nach ein paar Runden in der elimination waren nur noch 4 teams übrig.
Im Spiel um Platz drei und den Einzug ins Loosers Bracket Finale trat “Schmetterling”(Morgan, Lisa, Dani) gegen “Enorm in Form”(Alfonzo, Levin, William) an.
Nach 12 Minuten stand es 4:1 für das Team um William aus Montreal.
Im Winners Bracket Finale spielte dann “7ème Ciele”(Jason, Diana, Diego) gegen “Hum Drum”(Chaco, Emmet, Alejandro). Die beiden Teams führten am Samstag die Tabelle an und trafen dann am Sonntag wieder aufeinander. Es war ein sehr ausgegliches Spiel, schlussendlich konnte Emmets Team aber ein Tor erzielen und gewann mit 1:0
Im Loosers Bracket Finale traf dann “7ème Ciele” auf “Enorm in Form”. In diesem Spiel gab es ein paar mehr Tore zu sehen und kein Team hatte klar die überhand. Das Team um Diego konnte dann das 4:3 halten und sicherte sich so den Einzug ins große Finale.
In der Challenger Double elimination spielte im Finale “don’t need a third” (Juan, Laurent, Pabs) gegen “Caballo Paralitico”(Leila, Fran, McFly). Das Team um Roger Produzenten Laurent aus Montpellier siegte mit 2:1
Im Slayer Finale gab es also erneut ein Aufeinandertreffen von “7ème Ciele” und “Hum Drum”.
Das erste Finale war ein relativ eindeutiges 3:0 für das Team um Superpolo Mitglied Diana. Auch im zweiten Finale gelang es “Hum Drum” nicht das Team um Lokalmatador Jason zu schlagen, was vielleicht daran lag, dass sie mit einem festen Goalie spielten (;
Das zweite Finale war schlussendlich ein 3:2, Diego konnte das Golden Goal erzielen.
Dieses Turnier war für viele das Ende des Weltmeisterschafts Trips und des Aufenthalts in Frankreich.
