Golem wins the Wördern Equinox
Jirka, Alca and Kyncel won the tournament in Wördern this weekend
After Bikepolo Vienna invited to the annual tournament, 16 mixed teams were found to play last weekend.
On Friday pickups were played in Vienna and Wördern and almost all participants slept at the court.
On Saturday the first matches started around 10am after having Vegan Crepes for breakfast.
On Saturday there was a morning and an afternoon group in which 5 Swissrounds were played.
For lunch we had the well known and popular Vegan Goulash.
In the evening there were some pickups, karaoke and homemade pizzas.
On Sunday the games started a bit earlier because a double elim with all teams was planned.
While there were delicious dumplings with mushrooms for lunch, only a few teams remained in the elimination and the final matches were approaching.
In the Winners Bracket Final Caramba(Frax, Jovina, Nele) , who until then had not lost a game during the weekend, played against Golem(Jirka, Alca, Kyncel) , who also dominated the group stage.
It was a varied game with many finishes and beautiful passes. In the end it was the team around Jirka that won with 2:1
In the Loosers Bracket Sekana (Riley, Jonas, Anezka) met EliskaMateenLevin (Eliska, Mateen, Levin). Sekana created good chances, but Eliska’s team managed to score three goals and won 3:0.
In the Loosers Bracket Final Caramba played against EliskaMateenLevin. Alternating goals were scored and after 15 minutes the score was 2:2
Levin scored the golden goal quickly after the restart to send his team into the Grand Final.
Because Golem and EliskaMateenLevin had tied on Saturday, the final was even more exciting.
The first minutes were a rather cautious feeling out and both teams tried different ways to break through the opponent’s defense.
Then the team around local hero Mateen could score two goals.
Until minute 11 it was still 2:0, then Golen turned up again and used opportunities to counterattack.
Then 90 seconds before the end it was 3:2 for Golem. Eliska, Mateen and Levin could not combine successfully and they lost the final 3:2
Allison(Berlin/NYC) got the MVP titel.
After the award ceremony the teams cleaned up and many of the players drove back to Vienna.

Jirka, Alca und Kyncel gewannen am Wochenende das Turnier in Wördern
Nachdem Bikepolo Wien zum jährlichen Turnier einlud, fanden sich 16 mixed Teams, die am vergangenen Wochenende spielten.
Am Freitag wurden Pickups in Wien und Wördern gespielt. Fast alle Teilnehmenden schliefen am Court.
Am Samstag starteten die ersten Spiele gegen 10 Uhr, nachdem es vegane Crepes zum Frühstück gab.
Am Samstag gab es eine Vormittags- und Nachmittagsgruppe in der jeweils 5 Swissrounds gespielt wurden.
Zum Mittag gab es den bekannten und allseits beliebten veganen Gulasch.
Am Abend gab es noch ein paar Pickups, Karaoke und selbstgemachte Pizzen.
Am Sonntag starteten die Spiele etwas früher, da eine double elim mit allen Teams geplant war.
Während es zum Mittag leckere Klöße mit Pilzen gab, verblieben nur noch wenige Teams in der Elimination und die finalen Spiele rückten näher.
Im Winners Bracket Final spielte Caramba(Frax, Jovina, Nele), die bis dahin noch kein Spiel am Wochenende verloren hatten, gegen Golem (Jirka, Alca, Kyncel), die ebenfalls die Gruppenphase dominiert hatten.
Es war ein abwechslungsreiches Spiel mit vielen Abschlüssen und schönen Pässen. Am Ende war es das Team um Jirka das mit 2:1 gewann.
Im Loosers Bracket traf danach Sekana(Riley, Jonas, Anezka) auf EliskaMateenLevin(Eliska,Mateen, Levin). Sekana erspielte sich gute Chancen, das Team um Eliska konnte jedoch drei Tore erzielen und gewann mit 3:0
Im Loosers Bracket Final trat dann Caramba gegen EliskaMateenLevin an. Es fielen abwechselnd Tore und nach 15 Minuten stand es 2:2
Das Golden Goal verwandelte Levin zügig nach dem Wiederanpfiff und schoss sein Team so ins Grand Final.
Weil sich Golem und EliskaMateenLevin am Samstag 2:2 trennten war das Finale natürlich noch spannender.
Die ersten Minuten gab es ein eher vorsichtiges Abtasten und beide Teams versuchten verschiedene Möglichkeiten, die gegnerischen Defensive zu durchbrechen.
Dann konnte das Team um Lokalmatador Mateen zwei Tore erzielen.
Bis Minute 11 stand es noch 2:0, dann drehte Golen nochmal auf und nutzte die Möglichkeit zu kontern.
90 Sekunden vor Schluss stand es dann 3:2 für Golem. Eliska, Mateen und Levin konnten nicht nochmal erfolgreich kombinieren und so verloren sie das Finale mit 3:2
Allison aus Berlin/NYC wurde mit dem MVP Titel ausgezeichnet.
Nach der Siegerehrung wurde gemeinschafttlich aufgeräumt und viele der Spielenden fuhren dann zurück nach Wien.
