Lisa, Cathal and Jason won in Montpellier
This weekend “CoolGang” (Lisa, Cathal, Jason) won the Montpellier Mixed Tournament.
A total of 24 teams with players from France, Austria, England, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland played in the biggest mixed tournament in France to date.
Most of the players arrived on Friday and met at a bar in the center of Montpellier. Before the second court was built on Friday afternoon.
The Swiss Rounds started at 9 a.m. on Saturday in sunny 20 degree weather in the Parc Montcalm. A total of 6 rounds were played. The last rounds ended shortly before sunset. While many went to the bar again, others ordered pizza and let the evening fade away.
A double elimination was played on Sunday. Here a distinction was made between the Top12 and Bottom12 from Saturday. So there were two different brackets. The Top4 of each table skipped the first round.
In the elimination of the Challenger Bracket, "Eau de Cologne (Kati, Tom, Jan) played against Kardashian (Donatien, Yann, Capucine) in the Looser Bracket Final. The team from Cologne with Parisian support lost 1:3, but still managed to secure third place.
In the Winners Bracket Final “A good Name” (Clara, Laurent, Aymeric) then faced Kardashian. The team led by Roger producer Laurent then secured first place with a final score of 1:0
There were only four teams left in the Slayer Bracket, all of whom were at the top of the table after Saturday. In the match for the Loosers Bracket Final, “Enorm in Form” (Quimey, Quentin, Levin) played against “CoolGang”. The team led by the two local heroes Jason and Cathal won 5:2 and fought their way back after losing to “Kick and Run” (Parcim, Jovina, Alphonse). “Listin” (Dani, Romi, Loker) then awaited in the Loosers Bracket. The team was led by the two Argentinians who also played their way into the final in Milano last year, but was unable to win the match against the title favorites from Mtp and lost 2:0
In the late afternoon, the grand final was played between “Kick and Run” and “CoolGang”. As the team with Vandals regular players Parcim and Alphonse had not yet lost a game on Sunday, they had to be beaten twice. The first final was a high-scoring game in which neither team was able to extend their lead. In the end, “Kick and Run” lost their first game on Sunday and had to prove themselves in a second game. The second final game was also a great match and was watched by numerous spectators. Thanks to good passing and quick counter-attacks, Lisa and her team were able to take the lead in around 15 minutes. With 3 seconds left in regulation time, the score was still 4:3 until Parcim equalized after a counterattack. He saved his team into overtime. After several attempts, Jason then managed to score the last goal of the tournament and secure the title for his team.
At the award ceremony, Ella (Lausanne) was rewarded as “MVR(most valuable Rookie)” and Lisa (Berlin) was named MVP. There were also many prizes from RogerBikepolo and nice prizes from Mtp Bikepolo to be won.
