BPN Quing

Riley is the new Quing
Riley(Prague) won the 24h tournament in Hamnburg last weekend

The ninth edition of the 24-hour classic was on the agenda and, as every year, attracted many polo enthusiasts to Hamburg. It was the third tournament in Hamburg this year after the Masters and the KioskRoyaal.
The games started on Friday evening at 10. About 30 people played, as many had canceled shortly before the tournament. The teams were reshuffled each round. One point was awarded for each game played, two points for a tie and three points for a win. The first night was relatively cold with a minimum temperature of around 4 degrees. A fire and warm soup during the night made it much more bearable.
Round after round, the matches were shuffled and some players emerged at the top of the table. After 24 hours and 17 rounds played, Quing Leon from 2022 led the table with 14 wins 2 losses and a tie. The top 12 qualified for the semi-finals, these were: Leon, Jason, Riley, Mazzetta, Levin, Eliska, Frax, Robert, Tony, Tomas, Chris and August.
Levin, Eliska and Riley played the first semi-final against Robert, Mazzetta and Chris. After taking a quick lead, Eliska and her team continued to dominate the game and ultimately won 7:3. In the second semi-final, Jason, August and Frax played against Leon, Tony and Tomas. After August and Jason had already won the final last year, they also dominated this game and won 5:3.
That left Eliska, Riley, Levin, Jason August and Frax for the final. After a shuffle to decide who would play which team, the game started shortly before 12 o’clock.
Levin, Riley and Frax played against Jason, Eliska and August. It was Riley and on the other side Jason with the most points, so the two were competing for the overall victory.
After a quick 1:0 lead due to a smartshot from Levin, Riley’s team played very defensively and didn’t allow many chances. Levin was able to extend the score to 2:0 with a big shot, which put even more pressure on the opposing team.
After 15 minutes, the score was still 2-0, giving Riley the overall victory and making him the new Quing.
Quing Riley said the following about the weekend: „If anybody has doubts about bike polo people being crazy… Hamburg Bike Polo proves them wrong. Quing of the North should be added to your tournament bucket list for sure. I’m very happy to say that it’s as fun as it is difficult. Many thanks to the organizers, the players (teammates and enemies alike), and the previous Quing for a peaceful transfer of power.“

People are already looking forward to the 10th edition next year, its such a nice Tournament!
