Cameras for recording games?

Hi guys,
This topic is bordering on the “Tap out” category perhaps, but I was wondering if you have any recommendations for cameras to record games and/or filming BP in general?
I am throwing this out into public to cast a wider net, as the use case won’t be exactly same as what DOPE & Connect folks are doing.

My general requirements or thoughts on what would be nice to have are:

  • 4k120 recording capability - for slow motion replays and digital zoom rather than having final produced video with those parameters.
  • good low-light performance - our usual playing spot is not very well lit
  • as wide angle as possible (360 cam maybe?) to capture most action w/o depending on operator’s panning skills too much, and ideally being able to fire and forget.
  • support for live streaming (smartphone/pc connection) not strictly neccessary - see below.

Important note - I think more about producing some fun highlight reels rather than broadcasting games or recording them for analysis etc., but if the equipment is fit for that purpose too - even better!

Thanks in advance for any insights :)

Doesn’t really meet any of your requirements, but I just picked up a Canon EOS-M with the third party Magic Lantern software. Great little camera for video that you can get for super cheap.

I recently bought an Insta360 X4. I wish I’d waited a few months for the X5 but whatever.

it’s pretty neat overall. I hoped I could wear it as a head cam but I still haven’t found a good position that doesn’t put too much strain on my neck. I set it up quite upright hoping to be able to pan around behind but I think I’ll have to place it lower so there isn’t so much rotational inertia. I might transition to chest mount if that doesn’t work. Sad really as the 360 aspect is super cool.
