Lizards won CoupleCup
Lisa and August won the repeated 2vs2 indoor tournament in Halle this weekend.
The last tournament of the year took place on 9/10.12 in Halle. A total of 18 mixed teams played on a court measuring around 17x7m.
After last year’s CoupleCup, this year’s tournament took place in a new location. The Trendsporthalle aka Offspace of the Trendsportring Halle was the venue.
The first players arrived on Friday and were already playing PickUps.
13 cities from 5 countries were represented, with the majority coming from Halle, Berlin and Leipzig.
On Saturday there were three groups with 6 teams each, in which a round robin was played. This meant that each team had 5 games on Saturday, which resulted in a big table for Sunday.
On Sunday there were two more games in a Swissround. The top 16 then qualified for a single elimination. The table was led by Couldbeworse(Eliska/Levin), who had won all their games so far. They were followed by Lizards(August/Lisa), SuperBock(Paula, Julius) and EnormInForm(Christoph/Kim).
After the seven games played, most of the teams had gotten used to the court and the games became more and more lively.
After the eighth and quarter finals, only 4 teams remained to fight for the podium.
In the first semi-final, Couldbeworse played against EmergencyPlan (Nils/Romana). Romana’s team had previously won 3:2 against EnormInForm. The victory gave the team plenty of drive to win the next game, but they were unable to do so as Eliska and Levin were able to build on their previous performance and won 6:3
The second semi-final between Lizards and Polo.ch(Ladina/Miguel) was once again a fun game between the two teams, who were clearly enjoying themselves and celebrating every move. The two teams also topped their group on Saturday, while Polo.ch lost10-0 to Lizards. Lizards ultimately won the semi-final 6:3
The match for third place between EmergencyPlan and Polo.ch went clearly in favor of the Bern/Frankfurt pairing, as Ladina and Miguel played well together and adapted their game well to the small court. Polo.ch thus secured third place with a 6:2 victory.
The final between the two title favorites was the second time the teams met, in the preliminary round Couldbeworse won 6:4
August, Eliska, Lisa and Levin won the squad tournament in Halle together this summer and now faced each other as two teams.
The 15-minute game turned out to be very exciting, with the Lizards leading 2-0 after just a few minutes and making good use of their lead. After many duels and pivots, the score was 3:3 after about 10 minutes. Lisa and August played very defensively overall and built up their game from defense. In addition, two goals by August, who was visibly tense, did not count. Shortly before the end, it was 4:3 for Lizards, with Eliska and Levin managing to equalize again and get to goalden goal.
However, the goalden goal didn’t even last a minute, as Lisa scored the last goal with a big shot through two bottom brackets, just like in summer. Lisa thus won her second tournament and Eliska narrowly missed out on her sixth win of the year.

Lizards gewinnen CoupleCup
Lisa und August gewannen am Wochenende das zum wiederholten mal stattfindende 2vs2 Indoor Turnier in Halle.
Das letzte Turnier des Jahres fand am 9/10.12 in Halle statt. Es spielten insgesamt 18 mixed Teams auf einem Platz der etwa 17x7m misst.
Nach dem CoupleCup im letzten Jahr, fand er dieses Jahr in einer neuen Location statt. Die Trendsporthalle aka Offspace des Trendsportrings Halle war der Veranstaltungsort.
Am Freitag reisten die ersten Spielenden an und spielten schon PickUps.
Insgesamt waren 13 Städte aus 5 Ländern vertreten, wobei die meisten aus Halle, Berlin und Leipzig kamen.
Am Samstag gab es dann drei Gruppen mit je 6 Teams, in denen eine Round Robin gespielt wurde. Somit hatte jedes Team 5 Spiele am Samstag, woraus dann eine große Tabelle für Sonntag enstand.
Am Sonntag gab es nochmal zwei Spiele in einer Swissround. Die Top16 qualifizierten sich dann für die anschließende Single Elimination. Die Tabelle wurde von Couldbeworse(Eliska/Levin) angeführt, die bisher alle Spiele gewonnen hatten, gefolgt von Lizards(August/Lisa), SuperBock(Paula, Julius) und EnormInForm(Christoph/Kim).
Nach den sieben absolvierten Spielen hatten sich die meisten Teams an den Platz gewöhnt und die Spiele wurden immer lebendiger.
Nach den Achtel- und Viertelfinals verblieben nur noch 4 Teams, die dann um das Podium kämpften.
Im ersten Halbfinale spielte Couldbeworse gegen EmergencyPlan (Nils/Romana). Das Team um Romana gewann vorher mit 3:2 gegen den Tabellenvierten EnormInForm. Der Sieg brachte dem Team viel Biss, auch das nächste Spiel für sich zu entscheiden. Dies gelang dann aber nicht, da Eliska und Levin an die bisherige Leistung anknüpfen konnten und mit 6:3 siegten.
Das zweite Halbfinale zwischen Lizards und Polo.ch(Ladina/Miguel) war wieder mal ein lustiges Spiel zwischen den beiden Teams, die sichtlich Spaß hatten und jeglichen Spielzug feierten. Die beiden Teams führten auch ihre Gruppe am Samstag an, wobei Polo.ch hier eine 0:10 Niederlage einstecken musste. Lizards gewannen das Halbfinale schlussendlich mit 6:3.
Das Spiel um Platz drei zwischen EmergencyPlan und [
Polo.ch ging eindeutig für das Couple aus Bern/Frankfurt aus, da Ladina und Miguel gut zusammen spielten und ihr Spiel gut an den kleinen Platz anpassten. Durch den 6:2 Sieg sicherte sich Polo.ch somit den dritten Platz.
Das Finale zwischen den beiden Titelfavoriten war das zweite Mal, dass die Teams aufeinander trafen. In der Vorrunde gewann Couldbeworse mit 6:4.
August, Eliska, Lisa und Levin gewannen im Sommer zusammen das Squad Turnier in Halle und standen sich nun als Zweierteams gegenüber.
Das 15 min Spiel gestaltete sich sehr spannend, da Lizards nach wenigen Minuten schon 2:0 führten und ihren Vorsprung gut nutzten. Nach vielen Zweikämpfen und Pivots stand es nach etwa 10min 3:3. Lisa und August spielten insgesamt sehr defensiv und bauten ihr Spiel aus der Defensive auf. Zudem zählten zwei Tore von August nicht, der sichtlich angespannt war. Kurz vor Ende stand es dann 4:3 für Lizards, wobei Eliska und Levin es wieder schafften auszugleichen und so das goalden Goal erreichten.
Das goalden Goal dauerte jedoch nicht mal eine Minute, da Lisa genau wie im Sommer durch einen Bigshot durch zwei Bottom Brackets das letzte Tor erzielte. Somit gewann Lisa ihr zweites Turnier und Eliska verpasste knapp ihren sechsten Erfolg in diesem Jahr.
