Not saying anyone needs more motivation to win, but curious as to why it’s winners ref as the status-quo?
I’d guess it’s to soften the blow of defeat, injury and insults and all, but does that set a tone that reffing is a punishment??
Yes and also it’s weird to ref right after your game anyway. Many chances you won’t be as focused as you should be.
In Rouen, for the Epiphanie and the FIRE, we do morning/afternoon groups and call two teams from the opposite group to ref for 5 games.
Which means if you play in the afternoon, you will ref with another team (meaning 6 people available) for 5 games in the morning. That way we’re sure we have main, assist and two goal refs.
Since we have to rank the teams for the groups, we call the 1st and 8th team, then 2nd and 7th and so on so we “know” there are experienced players in the two called teams.
We’re thinking of a system for the second day (double elim). The idea would be to call the “in the hole" teams. That way you ref, then you have a break to warm up or whatever and then you play.
