How do you train for bike polo? Outside of pickup or solo polo, what workout/fitness regimen do you follow to stay at your best?
For me : running 10km or cycling >50km (once a week if possible), team sport (once a week, football for me).
Then there is the hardest part : eating well, sleeping more, drinking less !
Road cycling, jogging, and bouldering. + a lot of weights to strengthen my upper body and arms. I used to suffer from tennis elbow and now I have to keep my rehabilitation routine to keep this tennis elbow at bay
Running and cycling is very good. Also bouldering is nice for Polo i think.
Going to the gym and doing core training also super helpfull
Plus being vegan(special tip)
For me it is a mixture of strength training in the gym, endurance training and mobility exercises. In the gym I train my whole body and focus on the explosiveness and strength. Endurance training consists of pulse-oriented running and cycling units in the aerobic area (1-2h), in variety with interval running. And I have just started mobility training so if someone knows it well I would be happy to receive tips.
And of course nutrition and sleep are the basis for all this
I smoke weed, I stopped drinking.
I have started to do some stretching after polo (ideally every single time but I’m not too consequent about that haha) and I’ve noticed a big improvement in how physically well I feel in my body. By that I mean faster recovery times and some chronic pain that has become less/almost not noticeable
