Large turnout shuffle solutions

Do any clubs have large turnouts, as in 3 or 4 games + of people? When we do, almost not matter what we do, people get upset about having to wait out many games in a row.

Interested in hearing other solutions clubs are actively using that are not “play more nights”.

RBP spent a lot of time on this. This caused big arguments to end up keeping the same system :

  • when we reach 9+ players, we do big shuffle after everyone played at least once and shuffle all the games.
  • the remaining people (if we can’t fill 6 players for the last game) are out of this big shuffle but automatically in the first game of the big shuffle.
  • if by any bad luck you were again a "remaining " after the next big shuffle, we add you in.

This avoid “adding” a game in the end to make the remaining players play. It looks like you miss a game but in reality, it prevents others to play one more (the other are the one we would pick up for the added game).

This offers the minimum wait in between your games compared to all the systems we tried.

Since everyone understood it, it works like a charm.

More playing days divided by levels.
Montpellier has (in theory),
tuesday evening hard hitters
Wednesday evening newbies
Thursday and Sunday open
We rarely reach more than 18 people.
I tried to explain your system Max but not many people understand it when necessary and it creates frustration not sure how to explain it is the best because the fairest!
On another note: I would argue that the first 6 people to arrive should play the first game: it’s quite frustrating to arrive an hour before everyone and to play sometime later in a big shuffle…

MaxLeChef & morganxvx it’s understandable.

We do it in Poland as well. The main problem is to keep it visible/clear mallets that are “on the court” “next game” and “weren’t lucky in the mega shuffle and waits for filling mallets from next mega shuffle”
