As a result, Prague bike polo is delighted to propose once again a fun little tournament at our local court in May!
For the initiated, the recipe will be broadly the same, expect everything you enjoyed with a couple of subtle tweaks to make it even better!
For all others, where were you then? Hope you have a bloody good excuse, anyway let me bring you up to speed, you see, aside from offering you the usual’s: super cool polo, a cosy court, the best draft beer you’ve ever had, the incomprehensible locals, some great food, luxurious pallet comfort, banger tunes, daytime and nighttime play, stunning city views, a Christmas fire, all wrapped up in a very fun, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, there another thing, and that is you can forget everything you know about the rules, that’s right you can throw away that polo ruleset sitting on your bedside table, you ain’t gonna need it there. Why? Well because this tournament is also about imagining the future of bike polo and experimenting the changes that really matter, we’re talking maximising the polo fun through groundbreaking outside the box thinking, leading to never seen before strategies as well as discovering skills you did not know you had! So whether you’re just feeling lucky or your type is more to play it tactically, we’ve got challenges awaiting all levels of polo!

We will give you until 30th March to send your application, a lottery may follow to allow a maximum of 14 teams to participate. Note there will be some spots reserved for the club (composed of 2 out of 3 Prague players).

The registration fee will be 45eur/Team, details sent to the emails provided at time of registration, please settle it before the end of April so we can confirm the team list!

Format
it will be the great Graz system, which means there will be two groups of 7teams doing Round Robin on Saturday: AM & PM (so you can explore the city or hang around watching how the fun rules play out), then Sunday some smaller and balanced groups and finally a top 6 single elim to wrap it up around 18:30-19:00 (last year it ran on time).
Food
Included in registration will be breakfast and lunch at the court both days on Saturday and Sunday.
We will propose bbq in the evening, thinking the easiest would be to propose a fixed price and you can just help yourself whatever you fancy.
Cold beer on draft, non-alco beer bottles and soft drinks will be available at the court for a small fee.
At the court you can pay in euros (in cash) so bring that spare change jar!, but unfortunately not anywhere else.
There are some supermarkets (here andhere) fairly close to the court which are opened the whole weekend. We have dishes at the court but if you bring your own it’ll make our lives easier.

Cycling
I know Ive been posting gmap links, but just to annoy you the cycling route planning is not available, instead use Mapy.cz or Na kole Prahou, be aware that some route recommendations can turn out to be quite intimidating as taking you on what could seem to be a highway (especially in front of the train station so check for more bike friendly alternatives)
Prague is quite hilly, to come to the court the easiest is to ride along the river (there are bike paths) and go up the hill on Jeremkova street.
Public Transport
Worth noting that you can take your bike without surcharge in the metro
Metro C Budějovická station is 5min from the courts.
Parking
Parking is free in the area between Friday 8 pm to Monday 8 am. I’d recommend Perlitova street which is adjacent to the court but it’s one way so drive around the block to park there. There is a parking lot at the court (part of the sport centre) which is free for 15min to drop things off if that helps. btw we have a lockable polo house at the court so it will be possible to store your polo stuff overnight if needed.
