Protruding “non structural”

I would call this illegal if I did a bike check although no rules seem to address “unnatural shape that could injure or otherwise cause damage”

This is discguard from PRAAAP Bike Polo equipment. (Edited, sorry Chris and Stubborn, my mistake)

Please tell me if I’m wrong

Oh dang. My ankle hurts just looking at that. I get your point. If it were rounded and thicker I’d have no problem.

Hi Jason. Here is Miguel from PRAAAP.This is actually my design.

So I been selling this guards for over 3 years. At the moment cero injuries related to it.

1- the design is protruding this much so it’s able to fit more forks. Example the old hijas have a really wide tubbing on the fork.

2- the form it’s all done with fillets so no Sharp corner. The front angle it’s around 120* to reduce contact.

3- similar designs have been use on the pass with out any incident. A good example would be the max power guards.

4- the arch is sitting behind the handlebar so it’s never a first point of contact.

Glad you answered,
I got spokes broken by it. And I would argue it’s not justified to protrude as much. About the maxpower guard, I’ think it does’t protrude as much
I would argue that this much is too much and Maxpower feels fine.

I’m only giving my opinion! =) I hope a consensus can be reached!

Sure . We all want a safe court.
But I think it’s a bit extreme your approach.
I will revise the design for the next batch to make less protrude hopefully it would be even more safe.
As well as mentioned by Christ this is removable and it was made for extra support. Currently is attached with 2 M3 screws from the inside that actually would break on a hard impact.
But this impacts would be always bike on bike because what I mentioned in point 4.
