sorry to interrupt but can we cap shaft length or do we wait to get to the next extreme becoming the norm cycle ?
if most handlebars are 70/60cm , whe you defend / mark a player you have about 2x handlebars length gap between you and the ball (120cm)
having a mallet length that covers that distance is a huge hack. ball is always at reach.
dodi used to say "you think its cheating ? do it ! " now we have carbon shafts.
who s gonna be the fastest at ordering a new chinese batch of carbon 180cm uncut (60cm x 3 ! so you can reach out even if a player is in between you and the ball carrier ! )
i personall cannot keep up with the trend , my weak wrist are not liking the increase i n length and i could feel critical injury after just a few games with an uncut carbon shaft .
but it did felt great to have reach and it makes sense to have a long mallet , nowcoming back to my old shorter one i couldnt hit the ball.
im just asking if 180cm length is legal ?
personal data:
aluminium
2010-2015 : 97cm /103 cm
break
2020 : 103
2021 : 105 /107
2022: 105
2023 : 105alu / 120 carbon
2024 : 110 alu ,108 /120 carbon
breaking stats since:
tough shaft alu 1mm breaks rarely , holds hup to 4-5 years
light alu shaft 0.8mm i break about 2x per year / season
any carbon shaft ( perro / praap / voltige ) breaks at any time , on shaft on shaft contact that are not considered slashing, or by tripoding too hard in them , etc…
i do appreciate the carbon upgrade and movements definetly benefits from it , but to the cost of having to keep a few spares.
EDIT : just found out horse polo mallet length : 51- 53" inch so about 130cm . i guess we could cap mallet length to 120cm or you should ride pony
