Archived details about visa restrictions and other related stuff to help people traveling.
So after helping out with visas for Taiwan 2025 I have a couple of thoughts.
For some countries the requirements for entry from basically everywhere in the world is really onerous. I helped an Indian player with his visa, and for an Indian player to get a visa they have to already have been issued a visa from “Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, any of EU and Schengen countries, the United Kingdom, or the United States”.
That limitation applied by the Taiwanese consulate applies to India, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
There is some serious colonialism/post colonialism applied to world players by many countries (including my own) so I think this should be a central consideration for worlds hosting rights heading forwards.
I think under the current Trump administration there should be no discussion of the US hosting worlds, it would be too much of a risk to our community to travel to the US.
As a community we often mostly think about air fare, travel and accommodation costs… but with too many worlds teams have been turned around at the boarder, and we as a community should do better to try stop this.
Thank you Ollie. These are unfortunately important considerations when picking the next world’s hosts.
