What size is your "travel" sprocket when riding distances on your polo bike?

Ey!
I just left for an unexpected polo bikepacking trip. Heres my setup

42 front, rear ‚SS‘ hun actually takes 7 cogs and a little spacer
I took the rest of the cassette and will probably use something like 28-25-23-21-19-17-15 works like a charm. Im carrying the poloo drivetrain for now but will send it back home with someone after the tournament hopefully…

Yes, I’m thinking of just having a bigger chainring and another chain with a quick link and then just swap out these two when i have to go distances. It’s not a perfect setup but shouldn’t take longer than 5 min to do.

I did a trip on a cog with like 3 teeth less than my playing cog. It was still kinda low on the flats, and after a long day pretty heavy on the uphills. Someone did the same trip with me with absolutely the same gear they used during the tournament.

Now I got 17 and 19 teeth in the back. Or was it 16? Whatever, it’s never ideal.

I run a 26” 28/17 (~1.6) and I recently throw on a 14t (2.0) replacing a spacer on my cassette body and it’s perfect for everything except fast group rides and running late to work. dingle cog 4ever!

I think the real breakthrough has been the DT Swiss quick release for easy switch over.

When I was building my first fixed gear I used hub like this and the cog was drilled through and attached to a disc brake rotor mount.

So on one side there was a freewheel on the other the fixed gear cog. I never tried this but I suppose that with track dropouts you could find a setup in which you can go higher with your ratio without a need of changing the chain and in the same time it is extremely easy to unmount this cog (just 6 screws and one small torx key) before playing games :)
