I would really like it if we manage to make it this winter
Maus proposed a single shuffle Format. That has the advantage of minimal organising logistics.
1.Who would like to participate in a winter league?
2.Who would like to help with organisation?
3.What format, drawing mode etc should we choose?
juhu! i would be up for a winter league, single shuffle or with teams.
unfortunately i donāt think i have ressources to participate in organisation, except for reffing when iām at the court.
if it is a team winter league i think we could profit a lot from actively communicating. but i can totally see the point of making it super hard to find fitting dates!
for single shuffle player i think we need certain rules, especially when it comes to counting the number of games. will it be relatively counted? or do you need a certain number of games? do we want to fix beforehand winter league dates? who keeps track? how will the shuffle happen? i am totally fine if people who are motivated in organizing decide these things, if it will be a fair system :)
unfair would be for me, if every game counts absolutely and if it is not beforehand communicated that there will be winter league games.
Huhuuuu, i would also love to try a second winter league!
1.So i am in for participating.Think i would go for single shuffle :)
2. But for me its not possible to organize it at the moment. Sorry!!!
I think Single Shuffle is the easiest way to go
If thereās a defined number if rounds for everyone it should be possible to set the paperwork and leave it in the box.
Hey Vienna players,
At our plenum last sunday we agreed to try to make a winter league happen this year!
Every BPV player who signs up until end of november may participate. There will be a trophy for the ICE QUING. How it works: The league starts in december and runs until end of march (31.3.2025). It will be in single player shuffle format, so every player collects points during league sessions (send all results to me!). That means the more you play, the bigger your chances for the trophy get League sessions can be declared spontaneously, as long as a minimum of 6 participants are present and non-participants still have enough playing time (talk it out!).
Please write to me if you want to participate.
If you have any suggestions, feel free to share
Letās make this a hot, exciting winter!
Hey hey, Winter League players (or should I say pretty much all of BPV )!
Thank you for signing up, letās get this winter thing going
Quick update: league games are possible during every session beginning on monday, december 2nd.
As Iām the one responsible for keeping track, please send all the dates and game stats to me if Iām not present at the court.
To address some important questions regarding fairness such as
I would like to clarify a setup that should work (I think): Since almost everyone is participating, I donāt think there will be any concerns about declaring league games spontaneously. However, the number of games played by each participant should be distributed equallyduring one session, in a way that everyone present (counting the official playing time from beginning to end!) gets an equal amount of games.
I understand the point that it would be easier to balance the number of games played by fixing a number of total games or setting up specific dates for league games.
BUT: the whole point of the WINTER LEAGUE is to motivate people to come to the court, no matter what , and I think this setup is a good way to get there.
Similar to normal pickup shuffles: 6-18 players ā big shuffle with added mini shuffle (the players shuffled in with the mini shuffle count their games as real league games); >18 playersā>
Please write your opinions, objections, etc. I will try to take all concerns into account.
Canāt wait to get started!!
PS: Trophyās in the making⦠game stats per player: 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, # of goals scored, # of goals against, # of games played.
edit: Will share a link here to a spreadsheet with current standings as soon as itās ready (excel pros please dm me! )
Hey you furry winter mittens
Winter is coughing out its last icycles and spring will be here soon!
A little update on the League so far:
There have been 7 sessions so far, a lot of participants and an overall pretty high attendance during winter season (especially compared to some of the past years!).
So, to round it off, I would really like to set a date to make a little mini-tournament with (quarter-?), semis and finals. Would Friday, 21 march be a good day? Itās the official end of winter, so we start spring season right then and there
There will be prizes for:
The Ice Quing (overall winner)
The Avalanche (most goals scored)
The polar bear (MVP)
The snowplow (most sessions/games)
The golden couch potato (most points with least sessions)
⦠(further suggestions welcome!)
I will post a poll in the chat for the finals day, letās see!
Polohugs!
