Wow…

I strated a long answer i delete to keep the essential.

  • Price is not already decided but money can buy pallets, food, accesories, goodies, pay refs, pay stream, can go to ehba council, … clubs who organise tourneys knows what money is for and where it goes (traveling, buy stuffs for the clubs, …). I only saw bouchard and momo buying titan shit with the money of there club

  • We dont realy decide the end of preregistration but sooner we have registrations sooner we can tell official things on slot attribution and organise everything. One month should be enought but im not the more concerned player because i dont have to travel to play it. If you have ideas please say it.

  • we decided to organise this shit just few days ago because its seems we are the only club who can host it on this amount of time. We say ok but just giving 3 courts for 3 days from 4 to 6 of july, for the rest we need the community help, not war…

-like we said we need help at every stage of the organisation even for prereg, fees, sponsors, schedule games, mounting courts, reffing, takking the bar, preparing breakfast, tidying courts every night, …

SO PLEASE FILL THE REGISTRATION FORM AND THE BENEVOLE ONE AND SHARE THE MESSAGE.

Love to all

Hi everyone,

Some teams still have TBA as 4th player - captains will be contacted via email and need to answer before the 1st of May, otherwise their team will not be taken into account for slot attribution. So pls ask around and get your team together!

From then on, we’ll have a clear view to proceed with slot attribution for 36 competing teams - i.e. 6 out of the 41 pre-registered teams won’t participate.

In about two weeks we can also be more clear about the format.

We still need more volunteers for mounting courts, reffing, etc., and who will be rewarded with lunches or a place to stay for the tournament: EHBPC 2K25 - referee/volunteer registration

—> this is really really important

Thanks, see you on the court soon

Hi @Levin & @Tristewn

Is there no wildcard event ?
And how do you handle the international teams?

Maybe knowing the slot attribution would help teams to organise better ?

Merci for organizing

Yo Clément,

No wildcard this year for ehbc for sure.

We are waiting tba’s teams to complete and then announce slot attribution.

I putt teams with 2 players from same country, in this country, to make attribution easier (like “undecided” for germany).
So i think there is 2 insternationals teams left.

We want to have the more countries to participate, so probably cut in countries with the more registered teams…and like we said before, participation to worlds also count on the choice.

I’m happy that Euro is organized this year.
I’m also happy that Perpignan is doing it.

Next lines are maybe more for next ehpa committee or next euro organizers. But as I can’t address them:

I don’t want to add more work to any organizer but please if not for this Euro then for the slot allocation process of the next ones:

Announce the rules and stay with them. Aka what happened to the 3/4 rule?

I believed that Euro is competition of teams from european countries. And your team is playing for european country where majority of players live/play polo.

Which meant 2/3 for 3vs3 and 3/4 for quads.

(I understand it never was so strict but these “internacional” teams where allowed to play for the spot in wildcard when there was a spot in wildcard. And then wildcard didn’t even happen and by the time it was kinda standart to make these teams.)

So I always thought 2/3 and 3/4 is the rule and followed it.

And now it seems that only two players from one country is needed and you can claim a spot for that country.

If I knew this from the start of registration, team(s) from our country could be done differently.

Don’t need any answer for this and let’s do it like this in Perpignan but it’s making precedent. And question is if it’s still european championship when it’s more and more competition of random teams?

I understand the wish for clear rules, but I dont understand the idea to be strict about where players live. Other than for qualifiers, but then even that would only really make sense to me if there was any real fight about the slots, which to my knowledge was often not the case (except for france :))

In general, the way to move forward with these questions that a lot of us seem to care about, is not to throw our opinions at organizers (no offense), but to have a structured debate. Either IRL - we could try an open forum in perpignan - or here. Or both. If there are people ready to organize and moderate, I think that would be a great step forward.

To contradict all that and throw in an opinion: I think participation to worlds shouldnt be important :eyes:
There are legit reasons not to go (e.g. being too broke!) and those ppl should still have the right to compete imo.

Thanks for your Message Kyncl
I think we just did it like this for this specific euros because they can’t organize a wildcard
So what should we do?
Play a wildcard in another city on another weekend ?
I prefer to rather have euros then to not have them at all
Other than that I agree 100%

The main problem we have is that there are only 2 city’s in whole Europe with two courts..
See ya

I’m really gratefull that Euro is happening.

You don’t have to change anything. You can go with the rules you set for this event. I will respect that.

But modify the rules once (for any reason) can cause problems in the future.

As I wrote it’s probably more for people from next ehba (or whoever will be responsible for euro).

I wanted to share that I just feel bad when I see that following the rules and not following them makes no difference.

Anyway to answer you questions:

I don’t think that wildcard is needed or that it’s question of facilities.

In general:
Take the teams not following the 3/4 rule on the side. Work with the list of teams following the rule first and if some spots left give it to international teams.

How they will fight for the slots if there are more teams than slots and no wildcard? I don’t know it’s their problem. They decided to go this way.

That would be one way but as I wrote I’m going to respect any other.

As far as I remember (I may be wrong) there was never a rule like 2/3 or 3/4 required to compete in EHBPC.

It was a common thing that countries required that majority of players playing in country’s qualifier are part of given country community (the regularly play in a club from that country), but it was also said that it is a decision of a country’s community how they allocate their slots and they can accept any team if they want. I organised some qualifiers, I took part in them, I was involved in organising EHBPC, I attempted some EHBPC and never heard about such a rule being imposed on countries or teams.

It is also true that usually ‘international’ teams were forced to play in a wildcard but they were never implicitly banned from playing EHBPC.

Some examples to back up my “knowledge”:

  • EHBPC 2013 - we were not validating if teams are following 2/3 rule - we were only validating if they were qualified according to what “country community” passed to us
  • EHBPC in Zaragoza - there was an international team (one player from Poland) that wanted to use polish spot and we got a confirmation from EHBA that it is our decision (as polish community) to let them play or not
  • Emmet / Birdy / Dodi - Pescara euro’s
  • Mongrels?

You partially proved my point:

“Teams composed of players from 3 regions can qualify through Wildcard Event”

It does mean that being international team doesn’t disqualify you from Euros

And partially you proved me wrong:

That “international” team from Poland was considered international by us because one of 2 polish players was not living in Poland → we could use the “citizenship” rule to make it a “Polish” team

Wort to mention: 2 years ago we had a problem with completing polish team for EHBPC at some point it was just me and Madej (Szemek was injured) and I was said that as long as “polish community” is ok with that we can pick any 2 players willing to play but then 3/4 of the team must be present at WHBPC to play. So it was rather like “country spot is country spot we don’t care who takes it”
